Pickerings Hire had outgrown their existing depot in Swindon and required a new depot with increased storage capacity. The new 9.83 acre Royal Wootton Bassett site was an excellent opportunity for Pickerings to expand their business, with the new depot consisting of purpose built workshop facilities, offices and a large open storage yard.
With a considerable gradient across the site we were tasked with ensuring that the full extent of the storage yard was useable and leased equipment was able to be stored and transported safely and securely.
We established with the client that their forklift vehicles are able to operate safely whilst transporting a cabin at a maximum gradient of 1:30, with this in mind we were able to design the levels with a uniform gradient across the site with cutting and filling minimised where possible.
